head porting

I'm working on a 12 valve head doing some port and polish work considering putting in groves like riflings in to help with swirl. Has anyone done this and seen any gains?

Never heard of this, in the same boat been kind of messing around with a head in my spare time for a project, I have had many people say not to polish the ports up to much because they recommend some turbulence coming in so I imagine it might work, maybe someone with more experience will chime in on this.

With the pressures these trucks run, I would wouldn't really worry about polishing em a lot simply to save the time cause it's not really needed. They have a swirl ramp cast into the port already, and the injector sprays into the cylinder on the opposite side of the head to the intake ? It's not a naturally aspirated gasser... Mixture/turbulence etc isn't "as" critical. I used those words loosely...

Id think any decent port job would kill swirl at lower RPM with the change in port volume. I bought a hamilton head awhile back and had reliefs machined to help swirl, as well as running the valve protrusion kinda high to help with low lift flow. Didnt help as much as Id have liked.
Seems the better solution to that would be higher compression pistons or longer stroke, but that depends on the rest of the build and its purpose.
