I think I found the problem this morning. I have a couple of small but decent boost leaks. So I probably am driving the turbo harder than needed to get the boost on throttle where I want, which is restricting the exhaust excessively thus raising egts; and then I am lacking in overall airflow because of the leak which will also raise the egts. I'll get these leaks at the v bands fixed and then see what happens.
