Agreed about the gearing. We know that 4.30s would be best for that much weight, but not for going cross country all the time. That extra 200 rpm is alotta money over time. And 4.30s are twice the cost..... I just ordered the Rickson dually to single conversion rear wheels. Will save 150lbs of rotating mass, as well as lessen the drag of the rubber to the road. Should pay itself off in improved fuel mileage in 6mos. I love this truck and I haven't even registered it yet lol.
 
If your stepping up to 34/35 inch tires I wouldn't go up more than 4.30s and you could run 70 mph with the stock 4.88's at 2400.
Might want to try it with the new tires before jumping into a gear swap.

I went from a big tired F-350 single to a dually for the side sway stability.
300 lbs isn't going to make much difference in fuel savings on a truck that weighs around 9500 lbs empty.
