lift pump options for 600+

Ive been using ebay 140 gph fuel pumps over the last 4 years in conjunction with a factory lift pump, modified ofv on my 95' with a 180 pump.

I deleted the fuel heater/strainer all together last year. My 2nd used piston pump just died and my pusher sounds like its getting close. I have the pusher mounted close to the tank and wired with 12 gauge wire and a relay with a toggle. I was going to add a hobbs switch to activate the pusher when I the truck is making boost. with the 140 turned on it idles/cruises around 50 psi, on a long wide open run it drops to the mid to high 20s sometimes it stays above 30 psi.



I may be going to 5x.018s soon from the 16s.

I thinking an ebay sump and raptor 150 or an a1000 or holley 12-1800.
the holley has pretty impressive flow rates and it rated for diesel and 200gph and up to at least 60 psi

Both the big pumps require 150$ regulators and plumbed in return lines, big feed lines. That holley is submersible and rated for 3,000 hours

So Ill be 600$ plus into a holley or a1000 setup and a bit of time

This is a daily but its gradually becoming less of one. Id like to drop 750 on a fass titanium setup but that that's probably not an option. nickel and diming the holley setup might be easier for the wife lol

Im just not 100% sure if Ill need more than the raptor 150. The price looks good. The truck is going to see a little n20 this summer and as of right now the k31 cleans up the 5X.016s by 2nd gear and with 25-30 psi lift pump pressure and no plate. The turbo is making 58 psi and the drive pressure is less than 1.5 if Im reading the bouncing dp gauge correctly
 
Have you looked into Fuelab pumps at all? I'm running a 42401 on my truck with the pressure set to around 80 psi and it barely drops at WOT with the pump set to half speed. All I have is a cheap high speed check valve in place of the OFV and I put a 5/8 draw straw in the stock fuel module, couldn't be happier with the setup.
 
I talked to pdd this morning. I may do another piston pump and switch up my pusher setup and fuel line diameter with a sump.

I also talked to airdog this morning and their new 4g raptors have some better features. So a 150 gph raptor with big lines set at 40 psi may be the ticket. I have to talk with my accountant and explain why I need the raptor lol

The reliability of a piston pump and a pusher on a boost activated Hobbs switch is what I'm deciding on now.

Got 41402 on my 8.3 with adjustable OFV running 1/2" line from tank to pump got it set at 60# in reduced speed

Put ~70k miles down on a different Fuelab 40402 on my LMM

Why run a pusher on a boost signaled trigger? You're more likely to run into cavitation issues that way. If you're gonna run a boost signaled pump, I'd run a parallel electric pump with the OE mechanical pump.
 
I’m over 650hp at the wheels with just the modified stock mechanical pump and 1/2” lines... fuel pressure never drops below 50.

I'm either going run a mechanical with the checkball setup or try a new raptor 150.

I ran a raptor 150 when they first came out, with a sump, remote high flow filter, big line, and a torque teck overflow valve made for that pump. I could draw it down to like 5psi when ran hard. Ended up just going back to a stock pump with the same sump and big lines and was about the same, ran the same.
 
I ordered a cummins pump this morning. Anybody know which check valve is used ? so I don't have to plumb pusher inline with the mechanical pump
 
The cummins pump with the 973 spring did not dissapoint. More smoke up top, little more throttle response in gear, idles at 60ish, holds near 40 with the pusher on. I'm eager to get some 1/2 lines and get the pusher it's own line from the tank. Definetley need studs to draw the lift pump tight to the block with the stiffer spring.
 
2" should be good. I rolled the motor over a few times to try and make sure I'm off the high spot on the cam lobe. The thing still wanted to point up or below the cam. So I just held one hand on the lift pump to keep it Parallel to the block and slowly tightened down each side with my 18volt driver
