06 no communication, no start?

Got a 2006 Dodge, pretty much a junker but the guy wants to restore it. It has been wrecked, and it had a bad engine. The dealer tore the truck apart, and I mean tore the fukker apart, beat the firewall to get the motor out, ripped the starter wire out of the socket, lost/stole parts ect ect... Anyway 2 years ago this guy buys it at auction with the motor and parts in the back of it, he buys a used running complete engine and has some rookies install it. They set the motor in, and let it sit for two years, and couldn't figure out how to get the rest together... now its brought to me.

Anyway, I put it all together, now it wont start. It turns over, just no start. I cannot get my scanner to communicate, and every dash light stays on, and has a blinking red light, I would assume to be the anti-theft. They say it ran with this key before, but that could be wrong. I checked all the fuses in the box, everything is connected. When I unhook the main harness on the firewall, nothing changes on the dash, so I assume the ECM is just not getting any power.

Are there any other fuses, maybe a fused link or something that would power the ecm?

I can get into the bcm, anti-lock brakes, and air bags, with my scanner and I get codes for a mismatched ECM vin numbers. I have tried two different ecms now, and as soon as i clear the codes they come right back on both of them. I dont know if its not letting me clear them, or they are coming back.

Ok, it looks like it isnt getting any 5v feed on the C1 connector side of the ECM. I checked C2 first and they were all good, I overlooked C1 the first time...

Is the TIPM good?

Also, '06+ needs ECM VIN to match vehicle - but it'll run for few seconds and shut off 3 times before you have to get a dealer or someone like Bob to reflash.

Sounds like it hasn't lit yet- might want to check high-pressure fuel system (connector tube ends in particular)... ECM won't command solenoid actuation until at least 3Kpsi.

I know all that, I just want it to try to run. I cant check RP without communication to the ECM. Either way, it has to have communication, even if it does run for some reason, it will have all the lights on the dash lit, and it cant leave like that.

I need to fix the comunication first then I bet everything else will fall in line. All the 5v supply feeds that are down on C1 feed the injectors anyway.

Try unplugging the fan hub, I had to work on a 05 with weird ECM communication problem and no start condition and it was the electric fan hub that was short.

All pin out was okay on the ECM, we swap another ECM in it and it work, second startup, no start condition.

Swap the original ECM, same thing, start and second startup, no start condition.

After unplugging the fan hub all was okay ... stupid dodge engineer lol

Wow ,That's one I would have never tried.

Looks like it has a bad connection somewhere in the main harness on the firewall. I turned the key on and started moving wires around, and the horn honked. It scared the piss out of me, I almost fell off the truck! LOL

After I unhooked the horn, and a little more moving the harness around the injectors began to click... game on. I hooked my scanner up and now I can get into everything, but the fuking batteries are dead. All I have is a turd home battery charger as Snap-On hasn't delivered my new one yet...

I will have to remember this thread I have an 04.5 that was a fire that im putting together with a new harness and new sensors pretty much everything electrical under the hood. Im sure it wont be a cake walk
