Another vote for Everlast I have their 250EX Tig/Stick and couldn't be happier. Paid $1500 landed off Ebay, 5 year warranty, hasn't even had a hiccup yet. I ended up buying the 250 mig later on to match and it's been just as good.

Never used the 200 but assume it's every bit as good as my 250, just smaller. Honestly, for the money I'd just get the 250. It's a $200 difference for 50 more amps. I look at welders like I look at shop space, you'll probably wish you had more at some point.
 
HTP221 here also. It has the same features as a dynasty for a smaller price. They have a fathers day sale going on right now or the near future on them so you could save a few bucks.
 
Has anyone tried out the AHP AlphaTIG 200X? Reviews on the 2016 model are positive, they are 700$ new with a 3 year warranty. I'm looking for at home use, mainly vehicle fab. It will not be used much to be honest.
 
I bought a miller 180 Diversion. It has been the best tig welder I have used to date
very easy to use and simple to use.

I have ESAB and Thermal Arc welders at home (same company now). I like them as much as any lincoln or miller machines I've ever used on the job. ESAB has a lot of new machines out and they are one of the oldest companies, not to mention they were the inventors of modern stick electrodes, tungsten tig electrodes, and plasma cutting.

I have no experience with Everlast but with all the great reviews I wouldn't hesitate to get one for home hobby use.

I've looked at a couple esab welders and I want one... I've used a few Lincoln tigs and they worked well. HVent had the pleasure of running any Miller give. Unsure of what I'd get, but would like a tig for the home garage.
 
I wish the dynasty 350s weren't so expensive. I could really use the extra range. Sometimes my htp221 just isn't enough on really thick areas of aluminum.
 
AHP Alphatig here. Had it for a year and a half now. Not a single issue. We use it almost daily. It handles everything we throw at it including a ton of cast aluminum welding. One thing to remember is that with any equipment the initial machine purchase is only part of the equation. You want different cups, gas lenses, tungsten assortments, rod assortments, gloves etc.. It all adds up so factor that in and make sure you double it. Personally I have a set of everything for aluminum specifically. It is a bit overkill but it is nice to have a "crappier" set of accessories for when you want to do some quick and dirty welding.

I love Miller machines and I am sure they are better but the ahp was bought in a pinch as a startup and I don't see any reason to replace it given it was around $700 to my door.
 


Picked up an used 200DX everlast. I've put an hour or two on it so far just trying to get my TIG skills back. Fun unit so far.
 
I still like the Miller syncrowave 210, but that's the only inverter tig I've used. There may be better ones in that price range. Iirc, the duty cycle isn't that great on them, but I've never worn one out with a regular air cooled torch.
 
I've been using a Miller 180sd transformer machine for over 13 years now, and powering it has always been a problem as it draws over 50amps full tilt. Like others are saying, get what you can afford, and unless you've got the power, go the inverter route.

In my opinion it comes down to what you want to spend and how much you power you need.

My 1st tig was a Alphatig 200. I paid $600 for it. Sold it after a yr of abuse and use. Then bought an Everlast 250ex because I wanted AC freq adjustability. After adding a watercooler to it I had around $1700. After using it for nearly 3 yrs and finally getting my business started I wanted to upgrade to something digital with saved memories capabilities. The welder I WANTED was a Dynasty 350 but for 10-12k, I just couldn't do it. So I ended up buying more Everlast products... 325ext w/cooler, Imig275, and 80 amp plasma for UNDER 6K shipped to the shop with 5 yr warranty.
Also I needed a welder to run off 110v to do some onsite tig welding. So I bought another Alphatig 200dx for $650.

In my opinion the Alphatig 200dx is the best bang for the buck and is phenomenal little welder. (only thing I would/did change is a new foot pedal and of course added a 9 series torch) and most ppl dont need more than 200 amps.
