I have been beating the living **** out of mine for about 135,000 miles. Tuning is the key to longevity. The stock converter will handle more power than an ATS one will. You can extend the life of the direct clutch, which is also used for reverse, by changing the solenoid to a different version. The ones that we do can be done in 2 different variations. A "shift kit" on these units is bull**** since its controlled by the tuner. The trans-go kit changes stuff in the pump and includes an improved snap ring which is good to put in to keep the unit from severly over pressurizing and ripping itself apart. Cranking up the pressure won't help you as much as people think it will.
And always remember that a built, "bullet proof" unit can be destroyed by the file loaded into the processor.
