It's actually a proprietary bus, but similar. We were debating about using CANbus (I have been using CANbus on projects for over 13 years), but we decided on a simpler bus for this product.

cool i could i run the sensors and controller box and not the gauges so i could run the data logger
 
my gauge just started buzzing black face 0-60 on a rubber hose with a needle valve buzzes even when at a steady pressure
 
Have you tried tightening the needle valve slightly? Gauges will audibly buzz even if you can't see the pointer moving, but the needle valve should damp out the pulsations if it is closed down enough.
