Big vgt compounds at high elevation

I have a built motor lbz with a 72 Danville vgt and a Borg s483. Currently the atmo charger has a 1.32 a/r and it spools fairly quick. However it is only making about 60 psi total boost. I was curious if I would benefit from either switching to a tighter a/r housing or a turbo such as the HTT S400X 88/96 with a 1.15 a/r? I haven't heard of many people running that turbo and I wasn't sure why? I am at about 7000 ft elevation
