Boring out banjo bolts for more flow, hmm.....

I was doing some engine detailing that turned into stripping paint off my supply line from filter to pump, the filter housing, the afc and the injector return line.

Anyways I got to thinkin:

Would there be any benifit from make the holes in the banjo bolts a few "sizes" bigger?

I do understand that this would weakin the bolt but if a guy only when slightly bigger say a 1/16" total or so which would flow a lot more I think, would there be a benefit.

I am runnin a new stock lift pump through a stock filter.

Almost went ahead and did it but figure I'd get a couple opinions first.

No gain! Lets say you took that stock stuff out and added a Airdog ect with a -8 line, you would have more than enough fuel there, Mod trucks only run (2) -8/10 lines and look at what there doing for power.

Don't really know, I found that pic on web site and there is a video of on youtube, some 6cyl gasser. I've seen several trucks pulling that the manifold/s looked like that, case in point some maxes at TS last year.

Looks like a Toyota 2JZ motor. Glowing manifolds aren't an uncommon occurrence depending on how hard you're running them...

they start glowing real good around 1400, dont ask how i know...

I imagine with a real thin header like that gasser it wouldnt take much to turn red, hell my z400 will turn the header red and it runs a little rich

Well back on topic... Since I had to retain the stock banjo bolt setup goin into my cp3 for my AirDog suppy (jakebrake) I bored the holes out 2 sizes larger. That's the max I could go befor the holes woulda got into the seals on either side of the fitting. Not sure if it helped, but it can't hurt! You could see a difference in between the ones I did vs stock. I have a pic on my pc I'll post up when I get on it.

I put a "tapped" banjo bolt, from genos garage, on the fitting leaving the filter housing, it had much bigger holes in it, then i pulled the bolt going into the filter housing and drilled it wat out. It shure wont hurt any thing. just make sure you buy new washers/seals from cummins.

In my opinion its like running a 5" exhaust, then necking it down and putting on a 2" diameter tip.

Outstanding so to the answer to yes boring out the banjo bolts will give more flow.

I have looked through a geno's or two but guess I never looked hard enough.

So if I bored out the supply to the filter, the filter to the pump, and the banjo on the pump it would benefit me because the stock pump would not have to work as hard so it.
