Looking for input on a streetable locker I can run in 2.5 this year. I currently have 3.73 gears. D80 carrier break begin at 4.10?

I had an ARB in the back, worked ok for a year or two. Blew it to bits. When I contacted ARB, they accused me of having not enough preload, I informed them I used a spreader and a hammer to get it in, LOL. They then asked what application I used it in, when I told them sled pulling, they were like noway will we warranty that....

Nice to know, what about the Detroit’s?

Detroits tend to have some issues, I believe they hold up ok, unless you break an axle. Then they tend to break and the cost to repair them is like 75% of a new one. At least this was the case 10 years ago, not sure if they have changed designs or costs.

If your not upgrading axles the factory LSD works pretty great that's what I've been using for years. Only getting rid of it because I'm putting big dhd axles in with a spool. Hoping it's not too bad on the street haha

Going to 37 spline axles. Didn’t think u could street a spool. Anyone have luck with the grizzly lockers from Yukon?

I daily drive a lunchbox locker that stays locked pretty much always. It wears tires quicker, but the effects it has on the street have not bothered me much. It will chirp tires on a tight turn, especially on the 1-2 shift.

I've never hooked up to a sled, but a detroit is the strongest unit you can get outside of a full spool. Ran them on my DD crawler on 40's with great results.

Agreed! I broke a handful of them back in 2012. Guessing quality has only went down hill. I recently installed one for a customer and was not impressed. It had excessive runout imo and made difficult to get the desired lash, consistently.

As for welding it, if not upgrading shafts, they will break.

I contacted Yukon and they don’t make a grizzly locker for a D80. They said they are going to be coming out with one in the 3rd quarter of this year. Have decided on chromoly axles and trying a true trac. Switching to 4.10 cause of the carrier break.

Had a arb in my puller for 10 years without any issue until last year it exploded
I think I narrowed it down to the bolts holding the halves together loosened up
