Fourth Transmission
This is the story, the man has got a 05 dodge one ton dually 4x4. Upgrades are injectors, chip, 62 turbo, air intake and exhaust. First time the trans was built went a few months then broke the input, so a new billet input went in and refreshed. Back out on the road a few months later he burns it up so he takes the truck back to the trans builder and what ever dispute they had and the truck just sits there for a month or so some how the owner of the truck calls me for a price to rebuild it so i tell him a price and i pulled it apart and found most all the clutches burnt up. I ordered a suncoast kit for it with the new valvebody and converter put it back together drove it around for about 20-30 miles put a new trans cooler on it and gave it back to the owner now 6 months later it's burned up the clutches my question is are there any stronger kits or swap outs available
thank you

What is he doing with it, and not to pry, but are you sure the setup was correct? There are plenty of trucks much hotter than the one you describe that have SC trannies and are doing just fine..... That being said, if he pulls heavy at 55 MPH in OD, doesnt matter who's stuff is in there, it will fail.

Yeah. I'd start asking the owner how he drives it. Just because the tranny is built to handle the power doesn't mean it's built to be abused. If he's lugging the motor down a lot and going full throttle with no rpm built then there's going to be no pressure built up in the trans and it's going to slip.

Well boys, just got back from the track and run 12.9 on fuel. This man built my tranny and it holds just fine. I've got a feeling it's all operator!! I am on my 2nd tranny. First mistake was putting BD vavle body. Skintback knows what he's doing. Question will a fully built stage 5 trany from S.C. hold ? Any suncoast reps out there???

Well, if you are an authroized builer, I would call the shop and taslk with Ron or Ernie and get their take. Not that the guys here dont know what they are talking about, but I would think this would interest them a great deal.

Thats why I asked the question I did. It could be a valve body issue, depending on what clutches are burned.
Tip... oiling/ATF circulation in park is not always a good thing.

I agree. I've always been curious as to why some builders do that and some don't.

Did you psi test the tranny? Before you built it, after you built it, and now that its back? What do the psi's tell you? One of the last customers I built a tranny for had to have his tranny rebuilt 3 times in 6mo. all because some shop didn't check the valvebody out. It ended up being his PR (psi regulating) valve was sticking in the bore.
