Hanging in third

built 48RE Shifts perfect99% of the time but when racing pedal to the floor it will hang in 3rd till 4100rpm then shift into OD. Any thoughts? Normal driving shifts into OD at 50mph. If I let off on the pedal momentarily it will shift into OD But that's a .05 Sec loss in Excel! :hehe:

OK So I explained this wrong or there is no answer?! How do I make it shift faster to OD? When at full throttle?

The only way to get amore 's 47 to hit OD @WOT was to drop the gov lever back to 80ish %.

Are the 48re's as simple as the 47re's when it comes to Lock Up and OD? I think they are. There's a 12V+ supplied to the transmission, and when you ground one wire you get lock up, and when you ground another you get OD.

I have mine both hooked up and tapped into at the PCM on the passenger side, then switches on my dash that control solenoids. That way I can tie them directly to the passenger side negative battery terminal and get quick response. When I had it hooked up without a solenoid and just grounded to the chassis, I found an extra .5-1 second delay.

EDIT:
Looks like Pin 15 grounded will give you OD, and Pin 25 will give you lock up if I'm reading that right.

Note that my source on this is google images, so I'd do a little more HW and make sure these are the correct pins.

What I found on my diagrams as well. I have a 2nd gen with no diodes either either lock up or od, op.

That shift is controlled by the ecu, talk to your tuner and have them adjust. They can set it to shift where ever you want. When do you want it to shift? I have mine shifting right around 4k, hoping to be able to bring it up to 4200-4500 now that I've got a s369sxe in there. I say let her eat!

yeah mine shifts at 4100 But the hard excel when it finally shifts I want sooner! Am I just not feeling it right? The speedo slows down then finishes it's rotation to the mach one position in seconds after shift!

I would suggest talking to your tuner. They should be able to set it where you want. I only used the switch method as I have a limited 2nd gen lol. The diagrams posted are what I found in my service info.
