4x4 ext cab long bed 12.0?

I aquired a 96 ext cab long bed 4x4 truck... I want to build a daily, weekend strip truck that not only I can enjoy but my wife and son. My intention was to build a 2wd standard cab in my SIG which I've almost completed but it might sound dumb but its more fun for the family to enjoy it with me.. I'm not to familiar with 2nd gens... I've had 1st gens my whole life... is my goal out of the question? Any opinions are appreciated. I don't even though how much the truck weights. I'm the type of guy that would rather have a lighter truck with a engine with less hp than a heavy truck with higher HP... what is a realistic goal weight for the truck. I know I'm starting with the wrong truck lol.. thanks guys

Agreed, 650 will do low 12's with a good 60ft (1.7 range) which these days is not too hard to achieve in a regular cab 4x4.

What's a realistic goal weight? Don't want to touch interior for obvious reasons... is 6k doable?

No, not really. Id say 6,500-6,600(with driver) is more doable for a truck that you you can still use on a day to day basis.

My regular cab is 6380 w/o me in it, and with nothing taken out (jack, spare, etc.) Went 7.7 at 89mph at the track with 600 to the wheels, so I'd say 650-ish is a good power guess considering yours probably weighs a bit more.

My ecsb is 6400 with me and 3/8-1/2 tank of fuel. No spare, no tailgate, no hitch, roll pan, 1 battery, leather interior but no back seat.

6800 is a more realistic weight for a quad cab short bed 4x4 daily driver with un-needed junk removed when at the track such as spare tools, and easy to grab loose personal items, while leaving the stock jack, spare tire, tailgate, etc still in the truck.

With a realistic repeatable 1.80 60' time, you'll need about 720 HP at the tires to see 12.0 consistently at 116 MPH.

If you go nuts and launch hard, play with tire pressure, play with torque converter stall speed, etc, etc, you can get those 60' times more like 1.70 which equates to 12.0 @ 112 MPH or 650 HP at the tires.

I personally would shoot for 700 HP if you want to ensure 12.0 is a reality. For street use, twins are a must at that power level if the wife is expected to safely drive the truck around town. Probably also need to pony up for PCS transmission controller to make the truck shift exactly how it should for in-town comfortable driving for the wife.

At the end of the day, it's not going to be cheap!!!!
