‘98.55 2500 QC SB RWD Auto w/‘95 12-Valve

I’m selling my 1998 Dodge Ram 12-valve Cummins. The truck is a 1998.5 Quad-cab short bed RWD auto. It has roughly 320K miles on it, I’ll get the actual mileage and update the ad.

This truck is my baby. I bought the ‘95 in 2001 and have owned the truck as it is now since 2011. My family and friends can’t believe I’m selling it. Situations have changed, too many vehicles and too many projects so I’ve decided to let her go. She’s a good, solid truck that would be a really nice truck with some paint and other cosmetic odds and ends. I’m asking $9,800 for her. I’ll gladly tell you more than you want to know about her, I have nothing to hide and want the buyer to know her like I do.

The body is solid, no rust, the truck’s from FL, but she’s not pretty. It needs paint, typical Dodge peeling clear coat. The driver side rocker panel is damaged from where it was backed into. It also damaged the driver door, front fender, both hubcaps, and one of the wheels. I replaced the door and fender. The passenger side looks pretty good except the paint. Feel free to contact me for details, I’ll tell you anything you want to know.

The interior is NICE, leather and wood grain trim. The front seat bottoms have been recovered with vinyl. Again, contact me for more details.

The engine is from my 1995 that was totaled in my driveway. It features a fresh set of reworked injectors from Infinite Performance. I just replaced all engine gaskets and seals except the head and oil pan gaskets. I replaced the injection pump with a virgin low mileage pump, also. It has a #10 plate, 181 delivery valves, and 3K governor springs. The turbo is an HE351.

The 47RE transmission features a Goerend triple disc converter, constant pressure valve body, billet input shaft, and billet small parts. It has a manual lockup switch and the VB allows lockup in any gear. The tranny is strong.

The rear axle was professionally rebuilt in Oct 2019 with all new bearings, new 3.54 ring & pinion, and the LSD clutches replaced. Front rotors, calipers, pads, and hoses were replaced last year. Batteries are less than a year old. Water pump, belt, and tensioner were replaced last spring. Tires have @ 5K miles on

PM me for details or more pics.

Is this still available?

Kidding. Some marketplace humor.

I can't believe you are selling it.

Dropped it to $8,800 on my craiglist ad. I'd let one of my CompD brothers have her for $7,800.

Hey Scott, I can print a copy of the pictures you posted and hang at our parts counter.
I will point anyone that seems interested your way. Is it cool if I supply the contact number I have for you ?

Two wheel drives are a hard sell up here, but we'll at least advertise for you.

Me neither. I loved the way my 2wd Dodge drove. I'd throw three or four cylinder head cores in the bed and it would go any place I needed it to. It wasn't an off roader by any means, but I traveled in some pretty nasty weather with no issues. Of course I had to stay out of the throttle because it would turn around pretty easy.

Then you're a better driver than me or maybe it's just flatter up there. With this tight LSD axle, either end is going down hill no matter which way you're pointing. That's why there's no rust, I don't even attempt to drive it in the snow.

Why yes thank you, I am, in fact, a spectacular driver.

It's not flat in western Pa. Around here, you're either going up hill or down hill.
The weight in the bed made all the difference. That truck of mine would get stuck on wet grass empty. I never could get it to launch for shit at the drag strip though.

Yep, I made a thing to drop in place of the ball of my B&W gooseneck that holds IH tractor wheel weights. Even had a 3yr span where something was wrong with the front axle, so I never used 4x4, just through 500-1000lbs in the bed and go! The way I look at it is, if for some reason I end up off of the road in the winter, that where the 4x4 comes in to get me back onto the road.

Alrighty, I'll drop another $1K to $6,800. I started close to $10K on the advice of a friend. Now we're getting real.
