Camshaft Thrust plate

CTD2500

Brown Between the Cheeks
OK, maybe this is a silly question.
I'm doing a camshaft swap in my 12v Cummins. The thrust plate/retainer has a bit of minor scoring on the side that faces the block. Is it OK to install it flipped to use the better side or is a new one needed?

Thanks

OK, I will when I get a chance. I installed it already to try it out so I'll have to take it out again.

To try to describe it quick, the block side of the plate has a groove about 1mm wide, 1/4" in from the inside...probably about .001"-.003" deep (?)
I installed it flipped, just to see. The camshaft has a small amount of endplay, just enough to feel but not enough to see.

Screw it, I looked online for them and they're pretty cheap. I'll just order one, no sense cutting corners at this point.

Thanks guys

So yeah, $11 from the local truck shop. I shoulda checked first before wasting time starting a thread...for some reason I assumed they were like $80-$100.

Aftermarket ones are that much(the latter price range), they're usually bronze with quite a few more oiling passages.
