what about a 5k gsk?
I was just pondering the idea of putting a set of 5ks in my truck. How would the truck behave as a daily driver and would my setup in my sig be able to handle 5000 rpms?

I had a set of 5kgs in my old 98 12v that i used have and dd. I ended up swapping to 4kgs bc the 5s were a pain. The idle always fluctuate and it would die often until it was warm. Tried adjusting them and made it a little better but still didnt like them.. I would suggest 4kgs. Jus my .02

I spin 5k with a stock bottom end, only think I have is 110lb valve springs. Don't get the Columbus springs there a pain to set up IMO. Mine drove the same, just with the 5ks at first start up you have to keep your foot on the throttle for about 30 seconds or it will die

I've heard you can shim the large spring that controls the top end engine speeds to get more RPM's without effecting bottom end. I'm also looking to get 5ks but if shimming my 4ks will get me enough RPM's I may go with that.

I run 5ks in a 180 pump columbus springs...Took me 2 tries to get them to idle good. They will hang sometimes at like 1200 rpm when you let off but when you come to complete stop they go to normal idle more than likely from my install. I run 5x.014s vco racked 180 and 191s and it pulls hard definitely not to 5k but that has alot to do with fueling and turbo size...

I thought that if you set 5ks loose they wouldn't rev as high ? Or do you set them tight ?

What everyone is missing is that the 5k springs are very touchy off idle and normal driving takes very little throttle movement compared to any 4k.
Columbus 5k springs have to be shimmed right to idle in gear very easy fix. And just because you have 5ks doesnt mean you need rods main studs and a girdle thats ridiculous.

My 4ks are super touchy I had to put a heavy return spring on it. Stock bottom end good to 5k?
