pullin with a manual

when yall pull with a manual....do you launch in 2nd and hold on tight, do you launch in 3rd and hold on tight...or do you launch in second and after some momentum shift to third and bring her home?

Shifting while pulling is not good. It is hard to answer your question without knowing what you are driving. Ford, dodge, 5sp, 6sp, 4.30, 4.10, 3.73, 3,55 etc.
It also depends on the track.
In general 2nd will be too slow. There are a lot of combinations as far as 4Hi or 4Lo that could work. With a 5spd dodge we have pulled in 3rd 4lo but we should have tried 4th 4lo.

it will be a 07 ram cummins 2500 4x4 6speed. i believe its 4.10 gearing.

use 4th gear low range if you have a decent clutch. 3 gear low range with a stock clutch and don't slip it to long. 5th gear low range if you have a good dual disk and lots of hp, as in 550 plus.

I think someone needs to write a instructional booklet about sledpulling with a manual.

We could title it: "sledpulling with a manual manual"

i use low 4th and hold it to the wood till 4200rpm and slide out of clutch
