Fueling question

Looking for a little direction of what to check on the truck. It's a 05 Ford with a 12 valve and the 5r. The motor had 140k on it and ran good when pulled out of the dodge. I tore it down, changed rings(still had good factory cross hatch) main, rod, and cam bearings. Had the head gonr though and surfaced , arp head, main and rod bolts. Put it in the truck with the stock 160 p pump(that was supposed to be rebuilt and had 191dvs and a 4k gsk and a used set of 215 injectors (unknown miles) the p pump was making a little noise over 2000 rpms and had some smoke on cold start up so I ordered a set of Dap 5x 13 injectors. Idle was much better and no smoke but still had the noise over 2k, and now it was harder to start. When you cranked it would turnover slow for the first rotation then crank normal and fire off. So I sent the p pump of to Seth for a full rebuild and max/balance, .035 dv, 4k, and afc mods. Truck fires off instantly and is so smooth, but when I put it into gear it lopes hard when cold. When it warms up the lope is still there for the first 100 rpms and then it fuels hard (a bit of a surge) and goes away but there is something off. Double checked the valves today and lash was good. Fuel is supplied by an areomotive a 1000, - 8 line feeding side and front port of the p pump. - 6 line out the back to an areomotive return regulator, set at 44 pounds right now. Any suggestions? Thanks

He said he just had Seth put a set of 4K's in it.

I would call Seth. He can tell you what to do. I'm going to say you're idle is a bit low and needs to be raised a bit.

Timing is at 18 degrees idle is at 800. I found a couple mentions of poor idle/stutter with. 035 dvs on some older threads. Might throw my 181s back in and see what happens.

Unless you requested them specifically, I'm pretty sure Seth knows what he's doing putting those in your pump. I would not touch the pump except for idle adjustment until talking to him. I still say that's your issue.

What do you mean has a surge but fuels hard? Does it smoke hard before it spools.

Here is a video of it. Convertor is new(500 miles on it) stalled at 1600 from precision industries.

By surge I mean, for the first 1/2" of the pedal there is not much fuel (I've adjusted the cable) a little but it's choppy like in the video. Then it fuels hard and smooths out.

Is the cable good? My truck was a nightmare to drive until I figured out my cable was all but broken.

My truck has a chop when first taking off with a cold engine (6 spd idling off, no throttle input), it does it even after the clutch in fully engaged so it's not clutch jerk. I have PDD 3k gsk set a .042, same as when taken out. I'm thinking gsk needs tightened up one click but will talk to PDD before making any adjustments.

I recommend like others that you call Seth.
