Question Drive Pressure filter and a wide spot in the line?

You can see in the picture below the coil of copper tubing I used to help isolate the heat from the plastic drive pressure gauge tubing, is there anything else you guys recommend other than maybe replacing the plastic tubing with autometers small diameter copper tubing? My drive pressure flutters so bad that I doubt the gauge will last long, so I've been thinking about putting a wide spot in the line, like a small air tank, to help dampen the pulsation.

I just read about about the JGS partical trap, if your not running this, what are you running?

What say you Comp D?

i had the same problem with mine so i used an expanded area like you are talking about and i had to pack it full of steel wool as well.

might try putting a small kink in the copper tubing right before it goes into the plastic tubing. see if that helps your fluttering problem

I had to get a liquid filled fuel pressure gauge and that solved the fluttering needle issue..

I still get a bit of a pulse noise in the copper line in the cab though..

The steel wool is a great idea..

We used to put brass bushings in the lines with 35 thou holes in them to even out the pulses.

Omega sells small pressure snubbers used to dampen the pulses, and they work very well. They're about $12 or so.

Part number PS-4G is what we use alot of at work.

Thats substantially less expensive than the autometer option. Thank you!

I need to take my trap apart and see how its working. Right before I installed it my gauge quit fluttering, so I'm assuming its partially plugged already. The next thing I want to try is a very small orifice. A small disc of stainless shim stock with a pin hole (produced by the tip of a thumb tack) clamped in the compression fitting.

I had the autometer small dia. copper line on mine. It got brittle and snapped at the union. Not worth it IMO. Was going to go bigger like and a particulate trap like your saying.

I have since changed my setup to offer a larger trap, and have added a 7 micron filter inline. I haven't taken it apart to do any investigation, but it seems to be working so far. No soot in the plastic line, and I haven't melted it yet.
