2003 271 in 04.5. Indicator problem

I recently swapped transfer cases in the cr and now the 4wd light indicator lamp is all jacked. When it's in neutral and 4wd (hi or low) the light is off but in 2wd its on. I had to use the old switch and the lever on the case. Everything works fine mechanically just the light gets annoying.

The new case was originally an auto and swapped to manual input if that matters at all. I know the switches differ from 03 to 04, 03 having a 5 position switch and 04 having a 2 position switch. Both have different plugs so I can't just buy a switch for an 03.

I was just wondering if this can be fixed easily. If not, I'll just leave it unplugged.

It sounds like a simple wiring issue. Can you move the wires around in the plug until the 4wd light functions properly when the t-case is shifted?

I thought about that. But wasn't for sure if it would work since its a contact style switch
