the surge comes from when yr turbine is smaller then yr compressor there for yr pushing in more than it can get out , I had a T70 with a p trim wheel , was like 2.7/2.5 81 a/r it was laggy and had alot or surge , i had a baby 55 witch was nice 16cm gated housing worked well
the T series posted above is inducer/exducer of the compressor wheel only

My guess is the HX50 is older...and might use a different number of blades on the wheels!

I'd like to know why ball bearings are better....... and WHY the ceramic style should be better? I just can't seem to trust bearings made with ...er...clay?

Thanks for the info. I've tuned a 71mm Silverbullet on a Dmax and a modded GT42R on a Dmax also. Both are excellent turbos, no surging, and 100% streetable. We have not fueled up the Silverbullet yet, but the modded GT42R was good for over 700rwhp.

"modded GT42R" --
What wheels? What A/R? Internal/external wastegate? What kind of boost does it make at 2k RPM cruising down the road?

So, any recommendations for someone taking things up just a tad, say maybe going from 180HP to 300-325hp. I currently have the stock turbo with boost elbow raising things up to around 33psi, but have been told to go with a bigger turbo to keep temps down. Any suggestions? Would I benefit any by a 16CM^2 housing?
Thanks,
George
