6.0 no start

Help, I'm now at a lost. I have 2006 6.0 that will not start. I have a ScanGauge and it at first showed 6 to 8 psi on the Hpop. I'll replace it and it now shows between 1200 to 1600 psi. no leaks. I ICP shows .24 and when cranking its goes to 1.54, the fuel pressure shows 59 psi. the FICM shows 47.5 to 48 volt with 1 sync. Did a injector buzz test show good with a Gessins scan/code. The injector all buzz when the key is first turn on. So now I replace the Hpop, the IPR, the IPC sensor, and the FICM. Everything show good but it will not start. there is black smoke coming out of the exhaust when trying. Its tries to kick but won't get going.
 
a little history - we were out riding around in the mountains and came to camp around lunch time and park it. At first it would not start, then we finally got it started and drove it home, it ran bad like the engine was missing and rocking, half way back it snap out of it and ran great. Made it home and it started fine. Ran good for about 3 week no problems or no loss of power. Then it die and would not start. Tow it back home and every since then it would not start
 
The ICP shows 1200-1600psi cranking?
Have you done a compression test?
What’s the cranking RPM?
You have FICM sync from what your post says, have you checked for cam and crank sync?
 
have not done a compression test yet, the cranking RPM is around 200 and when tries to start goes as high as 400 RPMs. Also replace the crank position sensor also. The ScanGauge show it is sync.
 
Cam and crank sync is a PID you can monitor.

I don’t have a scan gauge. So I don’t know the “code” to enter for that PID.
 
What is the IPR percentage while cranking?
And back to my original reply, what is the ICP pressure cranking?
The ICP voltage is .24 KOEO?
 
the IPR percentage is about 60 then goes down to 40% once the dash gage goes up. The IPC is about 1400 psi to 1600 psi. The ICP is .24 with key on and goes to 1.54 when cranking.
 
I don’t know what IPC is. I know ICP. So is ICP 14-1600 while cranking?
If you have 550psi ICP or higher while cranking and have good compression, good fuel pressure, good fuel, 48v FICM, both syncs then I’d start looking individual sensor values, grounds, etc...

I would do some of the basics, just in case.
Bubble test on the fuel filter bowl.
Balloon test the fuel lines.
You could possibly have a bad ecm. Do you have a friend that you could try their ecm out?
 
Where are you checking fuel pressure?
You said there are no leaks. I did not ask if you air tested the HP oil system. If you did, how did you do it, and how much pressure did you use? I’ve seen trucks that produce ICP pressure and still have a leak. That’s why I ask.
 
checking the fuel pressure at where the tubes meet the heads on both side (remove the banjo bolt and added the pressure bolt for the gage). Did the air leak at the sensor on the passenger side head.
We also put in the large block off plugs and new tube on the high pressure oil side and new slip connection where the Hpop connections meets the block.

We also change the head bolts to ARP studs and did a EGR delete.
 
You did studs? Did you pull the heads or did you do them one at a time? Has the truck ran since the studs were done? If not, there are a number of possibilities to chase down.

About the air test...

Do you have an air test fitting that goes where the IPR is? If so it is a much better place to test from. Also how much pressure are you using?

I understand that you air tested at the icp sensor. I’m asking do you have the ability to perform the air test at the ipr sensor port? By air testing at the icp sensor, you aren’t seeing full pressure on the drivers side.
 
no, it die before we remove the heads, we did the studs at the same time as the Hpop. The truck would not start before the heads were removed. Since we were going in to do the Hpop we decide to do the studs at the same time.
 
It would have helped to have known this.

So the entire top of the engine has been taken apart and reassembled. I would recommend that you recheck all plugs, connections, push rods, grounds, etc...

Then do a bubble test.
Do a balloon test.

Then bleed the fuel system fully before trying to crank it.
