"float" on weight box
while watching some Limited PS pulling from PPL @Rudy's over morning coffee I had a thought.
Has anyone worked in the idea of having a "float" set up on their weight boxes to help ease cyclic hop on the front end? I know in the loader world float is a great advantage to keep the tires stable and even when having a bucket full of heavy sand/gravel.
Trying to think on how it could be an issue, or if it would make more problems than solving.

Not sure how you would do it but Weight bars and weight boxes cannot move they have to be solid in all directions

That pretty much negates the idea i was thinking on then. A 4link style set up with a gas cylinder on the diagonal to set height/pressure would be the ideal set up. but it would have pivot points and not be solid.

most of the time a hop is caused by the weight boxed not being securely mounted or mounts/arm/braces not strong/heavy enough so they flex.

When I was a kid, we had a local Modified 4x4 puller in town named Rob Perrotti, He drove the 53 Chevy called the "Wild Child" and built a setup where he had a hydraulic ram that pushed the weight rack farther forward as it went down the track.

I knew of another pullers truck that would do that. He said it was for loading/unloading the truck, but most felt he pushed it out farther than legally allowed while going down the track!

Haha yep, this guy could get about 12 inches out of it depending on how long the run was. He did it slowly and as he was moving so people wouldnt notice as easily.

There is a tractor that used to pull in the 80's 90's (believe he got it back out a few years ago & hooked as an exhibition a few times. It's an "econo-rod" type chassis, with an old truck or car body (Model T maybe?) on it. I believe had an 8v92 power plant, that had moving weight. Was called the City Slicker, some videos on you-tube somewhere.
