Question What are normal Intake Temps with intact EGR?

I logged this data while the EGR was still intact on my 2009. I'm pretty certain I've converted the correct blocks of data to give me "intake temp"...but it looks high. Is this about the right temps that the EGR would be dumping back into the intake? You are seeing about 190 seconds worth of data here. Opinions? I got the values by swapping the two hex data bytes, converting to decimal, and dividing by 64. This was at idle at about a 130-140F, not warmed up engine.

Is that just the EGR actuator opeing and closing?

This is the probe on the plenum plate right?

Not sure where it is located. Not that familiar with it yet. All I know is that it reads as "intake temp" on the off-the-shelf programmers.

There's a few different temp sensors on a 6.7 intake. One in the air box, one in the tube between intake horn and cooler and then one in the plenum plate.

I know on an h&s mini maxx to read egt's you attach an EGT probe to the temp sensor on the EGR tube. You then select EGT probe '2' on mini maxx to read it.

That data is "snooped" with can capture from a Mini Maxx. I'll have to find out which temp that is reading exactly. Thanks.

Just unhook the sensors one by one and watch the value. It will either go to zero or max.

Yip. I'll mess with it when I get a chance. Does that look right as far as temps of air coming back around the EGR loop and getting dumped into the motor? NO MORE!!!!

I think it's reasonable to see those numbers, but I've never had an EGR truck to compare.

Branodn, do you have experience sending requests to the ECM and reading the data returned. I need to work on the timing now. I know what to send and where the data is in the packets returned.....any tutoring available?

I know nothing at this point. I have a CAN device that should be arriving shortly, but I haven't had the chance to play.

When you get ready to play, give me a shout. I can maybe help you get started faster so that you can figure out the really hard stuff.

Dunno. I don't have the EGT probe in yet so I don't have an idea what idle EGT's are in this truck. With the e-brake enabled I'm sure they are higher to "warm" the motor? Don't know. Still learning this electronic SOB.
