Haven't seen g56 used for a coolant on command either(usually used for your 3rd work/fixture offset). My experience with trade school/junior college MTT people over the last 35 years has been that they all want to learn to be programmers without becoming machinists. We had to complete a 4 year apprenticeship and do 2 years on nc/cnc before they'd let us even thing about programming. Suncoast is probably looking for someone a bit more advanced than defining Q values in a G83. M functions are generally used for turning on and off coolant, spindle on and off, tool change, etc and vary from tool builder to tool builder.
