Front crank seal

Engine gasket kit didn't come with seal driver or tool for setting depth. Front crank does have a groove in it. Any techniques or tricks used out there for driving the seal pr setting the depth?

Thanks

You could try a big socket or seal driver. I would try and measure where the groove is in relation to the old seal and try to put the new seal a little shallower than the old seal. I have kept an old seal driver around, just in case I don't get one with the seal.

Yep tried with a seal driver and ended up ruining the seal. Will have to get the seal and driver kit. Napa or cummins etc?

I'd suggest Cummins #3802820. Comes with the wear sleeve.

This, #3802820

Tap the sleeve in till it sits flush against the tab on the end of the snout.

Then install the seal with the tool, and make sure its even from the front side of the timing cover as well.

Don't roll the lip while sliding the cover on.

I'll try and get the cummins one. Does the Napa one come with a tool?
