4r100 transmission conversion
Hello,
Originally I called firepunk wanting their 47re conversion but they said they couldnt do one for a 2wd so I started looking around and found the ats 4r100 conversion kit.
ATS | 4R100 Conversion Kit for 2007.5-2013 Dodge 6.7L 4x4 (*may lose some creature comforts)
ATS | 4R100 Stage 5 Package, 1999-2003 Ford 2wd
So basically it is a little over 10k to do this conversion myself. Ats said that because of 2wd they could not do a billet output shaft but the rest would be the same. To me this sounds like a deal breaker but....Another possibility is buying the ats 6.7 / 4r100 conversion kit but having someone else build the 4r100.
Truck has FP compounds, 350% exceedys, dual fuelers, carillo rods, etc and will mostly be a street truck with some track time.
This 2wd is causing me headaches. Has anyone done this 4r100 conversion in their 6.7 cummins?

I built a 12v/4r100 in a Excursion. Shouldn't be that much different keeping it in a dodge. You will need a adapter plate and something like a PCS controller to control the transmission. For the 4r100 I would give BTS (brian truck shop) a call as they can build you one heck of a 4r100 to hold up to the abuse. They will even have some "tunes" for the PCS.

either john woods or BTS for a good 4R. And as stated, a PCS to control it.

It seems like everyone says to go to bts with a pcs controllers so that is what I will do.
Is there a list of items needed to do this conversion?
So far i have found this
bts transmission / converter
adapter plate - Adapter Plate
ford starter - Starter
flex plate - Flex Plate
pcs controller - TCM-2800
pcs harness - TCM-4808
What else am I missing?

I have a 4R in my 2wd '94 Dodge. It's a BTS trans, PCS controlled. The trans is stout as hell. Brian is an awesome guy to work with once you can get a hold of him. He dares you to break it because he says it wont happen Lol. I am extremely green when it comes to the PCS so it really kicked my ass at first, but it is slowly growing on me now. There is soooo many things you can do with it, most things probably unnecessarily but pretty awesome! Oh and I think your list is complete minus fabing a mount (I just modded my stock one) and a driveshaft.

I've really thought about a 4r100 for my dodge, they just seem to have better ratios for a diesel than the 47re does. I'm probably wrong, but they just seem to shift cleaner.

Do you have a pic of the bypass? you might be able to get a bypass for different year cummins and have it bolt up. I don't think it would hurt the case that much, but there is always the chance it could crack over time.

I had to hog mine out a little, but I made my own bypass so it was just a 3/16" or 1/4" plate I had to make clearance for. I guess mine was more of a bevel job rather than a major cut out.

You will be fine, like other said round the corners and your good to go. I had to knotch the heck out my 4r100 to get my 12v starter to fit. Ran it like that for 30k miles with out a issue.
