Anyone know about these from the mid 90's? I'm looking at maybe building a dump truck with one of these motors. What's the max horse power on one.

I'm thinking 400hp your better off with a 12.7

Damn good motors, I'd say comparable to an M11 cummins from the same era.

Yea, that 8.2 grossing 70,000 would be a power house. I'm running a 400 horse m11 right now, just looking to build a longer truck to handle a pintle hitch better. I've got a 13 foot bed on the truck right now just looking to go to a 15 or 16 foot bed and a third drop axle. The short truck works great, just doesn't turn real well with the pintle loaded heavy.

Stick with the M11 if you have one already. 400 hp is maxed out on an 11.1 detroit.

they were usually in highway coaches. they are an older series. early/ mid 90s is the end of their production run the 12.7 became the standard. until the 14L was released.
