I have had it with my PS pump

I have a LUK power steering pump 163 bar that has been shimmed to reduce the pressure. That thing is driving me nuts, it whines like crazy the steering feels fine but the brakes don't cut it for me no where near how it used to be. So I have decided to change it out with the dodge style pump. I have a few questions about that though. I will need to get the vacuum pump even though I will not use it, do I just cap it off or should I run some hoses and loop it back? also what year vacuum pump/ps pump will fit or does it matter?

or should I try to find a lower pressure LUK type pump and try that?

just put a small filter on it and call it good. have you tried finding a pump from the 4bt, they don't have the vacuum part.

What will a filter do for me? do you think it is just some junk in the fluid? that is possible when I bought the motor it was on a pallet and fell over in the mud and filled the ps pump with mud. but I cleaned the pump and replaced all the fluid several times.

I have not thought about the 4bt ps pump I need to check that. I did, however, spend most of the day looking for a PS pump for a 2000 ford F650 with the 5.9l but everytime I google it, it just comes up with light duty trucks and cars. I even tried cummins quick serve using the esn from a 95 ford cummins but that is not thier part either. I did find a Cardone number 20-379 but can't find that on thier web site.

I was saying run a filter on the inlet of the vacuum pump. it won't take too kindly to being blocked off I dont think. I guess you could take the vanes out of it.

Does anyone know if I get a vac/ps pump from a 2000 if it will fit my motor. I assume it will but I just want to make sure.

It runs blocked off 99% of the time. Unless you have a leak, the only time it should be seeing air introduced into it is when you activate something, like the 4wd or HVAC controls. Leave it open, and its going to blow a lot of air into the crank case, look like bad blow-by.
