Looks like an Auto mith a manual valve body and a Ratchet Shifter.

probably like a 47RH with a ratchet floor shifter. all mechanical hold her in Lo then just bump up when RPM dictate. kinda like a slap shift or lightning stix (auto shift that was spring loaded pulled it back and when ready to shift smacked the release and she slammed into the next gear for ya not as much delay as a regualr auto)
Pretty cool setup

It's been a while..
Just get someone to build you a manual valve body and it'll hold any gear until you shift.

Here's what I used to run. Was with a 47rh. I have a video somewhere. Will have to find it. This is in a pulling truck as well.

Here's a link to one of my incabs. All videos from 2014 have the ratchet shifter. I currently have a 5 speed in it. And don't mind the smoke coming up through the floor lol.
