What is breaking on the driveshaft? Ebay has "heavy duty" ones for $325 buy it now you might look there. If not driveshafts unlimited in Arnold, MO

Smokingoat - I believe thats who I ordered my replacement from.

$300 Shipped and he guarantees I can't break it... So we'll see.

As for where its breaking... I'll post pictures tomorrow of that, but its the flange where it mounts to the T-Case... it's just busting the "loops" over the U-Joint caps. I've broken 3 of them this way.

Got another pull this weekend as long as the shaft shows up on Friday like it's supposed too.

Anyway... Here's my video of the pull where the shaft broke. Not much to see... couple things though.

Ran the same #7 SW - RPM High, Timing 2, RP 4, Shift Limiter Off, TQ Management was on 2 this time though instead of 4.

Seems there was alot less smoke on spool up this time, but I still didn't get the boost I was wanting too before leaving... Was aiming for 15ish.

Boost was right at 10 PSI when the shaft broke... Shaft broke just as the truck brakes were having a hell of a time (loosing that battle as you can see) holding the truck back. Usually once this charger gets to about 12-14PSI she lights right on up to 40PSI quickly, so I was JUST about ready to let off the brakes.

I'm starting to wonder if my converter isn't too tight, it stalls high enough in HIGH range to get ANY amount of boost I want and still hold it back with the brakes, but in LOW range... it just keeps wanting to push through.

Anybody got an opinion on that?

Here's the video... (Edit) Youtube screwed up my video... I'll post it in the next post after I re-upload it.

Well...

Looks like advice has kinda dried up for me around here! ...

I guess I'll ask one more question and see if I get a response...

I've been thinking that maybe software 7 is just too much for this charger with the 3.5's...

I'm working with Chris at ED on getting a new charger, but he's still working on putting something together for me.

Would I be better off and see more performance if I was to run softwares 1 or 3 for now untill I can get a charger capable of clearing up all this extra fuel?

Let me know what you think.

Next hook is Saturday night and I'd like to see what this thing will actually do for once.

I think 7 will be just fine, I'm not an auto guy though I floorboard it and step left. Talk to Megahooker on here he has an auto and it's tuned and runs very well.

If you keep breaking driveshafts like that I'm led to believe your maybe leaving the line with to much boost? Maybe try feathering the brake a little bit more? I'd also ditch that turbo your pistons have got to be getting HAWT!

I know I have a ford but I launch at 20-25lbs floor boarding it with my 48re and 33x15.50's and havent had any front shaft issues maybe it just needs a ole f350 shaft lol

Woooo Hoooo!!!

She finally put in a clean hook!

292.xx - Class winner Duramax with modified hitch went 307. I took second by over 40 feet. It was another one of those "Street" classes though, no rules other than no bars, no blocks, 26" hitch height. I was told at the gate no modified hitches... But eh well.

Left the gate at about 8 PSI, came right up on the charger and into 2nd gear, held it for a split second at 4000RPM and then bumped her up to 3rd where she went right back to about 3900...

Still didn't try locking the converter... Which may or may not have hurt me... You guys watch the video and tell me what you think.

I'll try locking it as soon as it hits second next time.

I put the new 285/70/17 BFG All Terrains on about 10 minutes before this pull also... They weren't offering a whole lot of help.

Looks like I can finally start putting the bars, blocks, and weights out front and see what she's got for the local association....

Obviously a turbo change is in order too... I'm just waiting on Chris at ED.

I'll have video here in a bit...

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!... It really did make a difference.

Please don't forget to tell me what you think of this video... Especially the whole converter lockup thing.

Thank you for the advice, I went ahead and ran the #7 SW.

Yep... I went ahead and left at 8 PSI tonight. Seemed to work just fine. I had guys keep telling me that wasn't enough, I guess I need to just listen to my instincts from now on.

As for the turbo... I agree completely. I'm just waiting on Chris at ED. HAWT! is right... 1600 Degree Pyro was buried from about 200 foot on... Thought about backing it down, but said screw it. I was that pissed at it for it's performance lately.

... I can't for the life of me hold back 15lbs in Low Range!... Much less 20-25! Thats crazy!

As for the driveshaft.... I'm hoping my problems are solved. I got a new heavier shaft made that looks a whole lot beefier in the areas I kept breaking it... So we'll see. I"ll try to post pics of both the old broken shaft and the new modified one soon.

Well here's the video...

Seems there's more room for improvement than I thought.

Sure felt better than it looked...

Forgot to mention above that I did shift the selector to second right there at the end...

Eh well... Critique away. Lemme know what you think.
