My anteater had a problem a couple weeks back with the converter trying to lock as soon as it was in drive. Problem hasn't repeated, but now it will freeze/ lose communication randomly at a stop. I can start the truck and hold the tune button and it cycles, then i can put it in drive and push the button and it stays green. Restart the truck and its fine again. Any ideas, I have rechecked all of the connections and everything seems tight and fine. Could it be that the in cab controller is going batty? I have the pillar gauge style interface.

Get in touch with Paul. The Anteater is losing communication with the remote. It should have defaulted to the last set tune though. I'm not sure about the locking converter issue.

I have a 2005 dodge 5.9 Cummins tuned with SSR. Trying to install an anteater. I need a recovery file to flash ECM to a manual. My email is Chevez_77@yahoo.com.
Thank you in advance if someone can help

Conrats on baby Brandon!
Big thanks to Rick Fox and Firepunk for their top notch customer service. I have a brand new anteater that was purchased last year. I installed it on a 2005 5.9 and turns out it had an issue and wouldnt stay on. Contacted Rick and he helped me trouble shoot it until we figured out I needed a new Anteater. Rick got one to my door two days later! Awesome service right here folks!

Thanks! Sorry about the two-day wait; it kept getting later and later at the lab then I wasn't able to catch UPS in time. I'm very curious to see what failed in the old one. Get with Rick and he should be able to get shipped back to me for failure analysis.

Finally got the Fummins Excursion running. Used a 48RE and an Anteater. Works great. Did a few changes to the base programs to get it to shift quicker and stay in gear without annoying downshifts. I noticed while looking at the dash that my TPS percentage only goes from 0 to 33%. Should I measure the actual output from the APPS and use itose readings to in the program to see full scale TPS readings? It stays at 0 until 1/2 thottle and starts to move smoothly the rest of the way to the mat. But it seems to know when I am on or off the throttle and shifts appropriately.

I need to double check where my upper and lower bounds are, but you want the min TPS voltage 0.3 to about 0.5 V above the lowest voltage you see from your multimeter at no throttle , and the Max about 0.5V to 0.3 below the max that you observe with your meter.
My laptop went down that I did all of my tuning with so I'm working from memory. Flat line tunes basically take the TPS/APPS out of the picture and the tune relies on mph set points to determine shifting.

Finally had a little time to mess around with my tune some more. Had to adjust a few shift points.
Worked in a WOT shift at 80 and 90 TPS %'s. Put my overdrive on at 95mph. Left the overdrive OFF at 49. But noticed When I was up to speed around 55 and stomped it, it wouldn't get out of overdrive. Finally thought to myself some more and raised Overdrive OFF to 65.
Then at 55mph and I floor it, it will kick down out of overdrive. But it will also unlock for a split second and then lock back.
Is that unlocking and locking back normal?
How do the overdrive on/off and lockup on/off settings worked in the sense of unlocking to kickdown? I've always left my "off" speeds lower than the "on" speeds. So finally getting time to mess with it more.
Thanks guys!

To make it compatible with 47RE VBs, the VB must be unlocked for ~0.7 seconds when downshifting from overdrive. Your description sounds correct.

Thanks. That's what I needed.
So to make sure with the off/on's. If you're going faster than the "off" speed. It won't kick down/off. You have to he traveling slower than the off speed.

What all would I need to change in a 99 47re to be able to use the anteater? I have the option of buying a transmission I would like to swap in to my 1st gen.

Have to, nothing. I would recommend a new gov transducer and solenoid.

I believe that if you want to take full advantage of the Anteater, you would need a 48re. I can't recall the limits on the older transmissions... Maybe somebody can elaborate. But if you are looking at a new trans anyway, might be a good idea to go with a 48.

FE Anteater
Here under asked questions it says it needs a 2000+ vb harness. Is the still true or has something changed?
