Hp tuners; 2004.5 touchy accl pedal
I have a 2004.5 manual. Swapped in a 6.7 running 5.9 03-04 exergy 150% overs, 10mm pump, stock cam, head work, and a s467/87 turbo. When I got it turned she put down 781/1400. I dialed it back a lot for the street, I was able to get it to the point where there's not much smoke but can still break the tires loose in 4th.
Now that it's hot it seems like it smokes a lot more and the more fuel I pull seems to make it worse because the turbo is not spooling as well. Pulling the timing back in the low rpms has seemed to help, but its sstill mokey to the point of being embarrassing.
I'm not a smoke bro and I appreciate a good, clean running truck. Could my issue be in the govenors? It seems to fuel hard from a dead stop, the accelerator pedal is really touchy no matter what I do.
Thanks for any help or advice

Touchy pedal is from too much duration most likely. Keep the timing low until the 100mm3 and above. Be careful with duration in that range as well, that's where the smoke will be. How do you have your boost limited fueling table setup? That and the pedal tables should help a lot with smoke and touchy throttle too.

If it ran reasonably well in cooler weather, perhaps a temp compensation table needs adjusted.

Here's a picture of my boost pressure fuel quantity limiter A and pedal table. I haven't tried messing with the boost table at all.
All my compensation and transient tables are the same, I'm not experienced enough to know how to set those up as I dont know when it would be pulling from what table. What's getting me is that the more I pull back the worse it gets.
Once I'm moving it's fine, its just the from a dead stop and a little in my 2-3rd shift that's seems to want to fuel hard no matter how lite I am on the pedal.

The boost table will make a big difference in smoke control on the truck. Duration is what's causing smoke and touchy throttle.

Like Dom said, I would lower the fueling in your boost limit table. That combo should make more power than 781 though, my truck did 895hp with II 120hp injectors, 67.7/83/.90, and a single 10mm stroker. It could be a difference in dynos too though...
Post your timing table, and what kind of duration are you running?

So, would I be wrong in my theory that accelerator pedal requests a fuel quantity based on rpm, that quantity and rpm requests a rail pressure, and that pressure and quantity denotes the pulse width? So instead of having my pedal map linear like I did, I pulled back the 25% pedal position by 10-30% below 2800 rpms. This took a lot of the touchy pedal away and made smoke a lot more manageable.

It made 785, but the rail pressure couldn't get above 18,000 psi on that so the tuner pulled some duration and that produced the 781/1400 run. I'm not trying to call you out or talk ****, but I was under the impression that 10mm were only good to around 800 hp. But then again, I've been out of the loop for a while. I'm just now getting back into it now that I'm making enough money to not work 60+ hours a week and going to school.
Note* these are the tables I've made from research and trial and error trying to make a low smoke tube.

If I'm reading your pulse table correct, only running 1300us up top? And looks to be very high duration in the low pressure/ low mm3 areas.

I'm literally looking at my duration table right now, comparing it to a stock file. It's all less than stock except for a triangular area in the low pressure and quantity part. Not sure what I did there. Here's a picture of the difference between stock and mine.
I'm under the impression that you want to run less duration with more pressure, that's why there's 1300us up top

Sorry, didn't notice you had 150% overs, but yes more pressure the better. What mm3 does it idle at? Just seemed that duration was high for the 10-15mm3 area.

Nah, no offence at all man. Depending on what your timing adder tables look like I would say some timing would add some power. I run about 30* @ 3000rpm and about 37* @ 4000 rpm with 2500us of duration.
The tune that made 895hp had 36* @ 3200 and 2700us of duration.

At 2200us my desired rp was 23208 and actual was 17262. That made 785 like 1200 torque at 2320 rpms. Once the rp caught up the rp was at 32*. Dont have a log of the next run with less duration but that made 781 and 1400. But all this was on a totally different tune for max.

Take a stock duration map and multiply it by .20 and see how the truck runs. Then don’t touch anything but the bottom right of the map if it gives you the cleanliness you want

Yea, taking 80% out made a tune...
I did take another 20% out from 51mm3 down. It did help some.
Then I applied the pedal map that I modified to it and it got worse than before. I'm looking at my logs and at 5% pedal the fuel rate is 45.8mm3 and at 10 its 52.9mm3. The most fuel at 25% pedal I have on the map is 24.7mm3. Why is it requesting so much fuel?
