what about methanol injection? And also where is the water coming from feeding the turbine housings? Maybe cooler water? Also out of curiosity what kind of water induction system are you using for your sea water intake?
 
We done a load of these FTP engines and installed an S300SX-E on them. Restriction on this is the water cooled manifold as well as it takes away a load of exhaust energy in the cooling process. If you know MTU and how they are doing things on the exhaust side of things. They use a system called water blanked or you can call it a water cooled box that enclose the exhaust manifold to prevent radiation heat transfer in the engine room.
I have more experience on MAN and Volvo short term propulsion engines for patrol boat use and these are sensitive to hi EGT and crakes in the ex manifolds and turbine housing. Also the wastegate can do some damage as for easy running over 58PSI boost pressure.
 
OP looks like you have the 86x77 turbine. As mentioned there is an 86x80 available as well. As long as the turbine housing isn't an issue we could easily upgrade those on both ends if desired.

Possible to find out housing on these pictures?

Does the boat actually derate at 1500*, or are you just backing it down on your own.

Looked at meth/waterinjection. Need a lot of meth/water for 5-6 hour run with 4 engines..
Engine glycol/water cools housing. Not easy to change.
Seawaterintakes are 2x1,5" on transom sticking down an inch into water. Then through seastrainers on inside.
 
Do y'all think just tightening the wastegate down a little to reach a peak of 45psi would be to much for those chargers? Not familiar with hx55's, but would be quick and easy to try and maybe that extra 4psi would keep them under 1350.

No, not too much for them. And 1400 is still ok for any engine.
 
That was my thought was 10% increase, but I don't know that turbo well enough to know if he is already close to coming off the map it might not accomplish much. More boost is not always better if it's too hot. Just test and see.

Yes, normally if you are cooling with fuel the opacity of exhaust and miles per gallon become an issue for a guy who wants to run a 5hr race.

And he will lose lots of power and reliability. Might as well back of the fuel like he is doing now.

Housing number is usually inside the throat.

But larger exducer helps anyway. Small housing big turbine usually works well at wide rpm range.

Looks like the smallest housing, 14. Found 3 different H55 watercooled housings, 14-16-19.

Measured the exducer again. Looks like 70 or 71 mm.

Big step to 86-80? Meaning what to powerband?

Agreed with Leiffi on big turbine in a small housing. I much prefer them when applicable. My comment on the housing was pertaining to material. As long as there is enough material to take it to the 80mm exducer and not get into a water jacket those housings can be machined to accept the larger turbine.
 
I have questions

- is this 1350f EGT across all 4 engines?
- how much boost and fuel flow at egt?
- any chances of boost leaks?
- what are air intake temps?
