YEP ^^, that way I can have lock up right on the shifter and easily hit it with my thumb and not take hand off shifter to hit a switch. Convenience factor.

The other way around it (without adding an arduino or something cool) is to use five relays to make the same action. This is a much much cheaper way of doing that and it takes of less space too!

I wanted a latching relay for mine but never found one.
I went the arduino route.
What were you guys using the relay for?

Are you asking how to use five relays to make one momentary switch into an on/off switch? I forget, but I am sure you could google it. It was pretty ridiculous. lol
EDIT:
5 with no diodes
4 with diodes

I will say this, with a $15 arduino, some parts from radios hack and a brain, you can make the OD and 3rd will do what you want when you want.
I'm guessing the last of those items is the daunting one.

Oh I know. Arduino's are bad ass! It gets you much more consistent.
Trying to use a solid state relay to work as a driver for PWM for the gov solenoid to control everything! Don't know if it'll work, but I'm working on it.

Ordered solenoids from wittrans Monday morning and they're here already lol. So I tested it and everything works. Old solenoids must be bad.

47rh manual valvebody. Talk me into/out of it
I have a manual VB from Darren Morrison and love it. Shift are super firm and fast and have Never had it act up one time. I use a TCI outlaw gate shifter, it's super easy to install and very easy to adjust. I ordered a 6' cable afterwards because the 5' was just to short, it worked but was run very tight and tucked behind the starter to try to get every inch. I have a switch for lock up and OD. But I don't have to use the OD switch when just casually driving around. When I go to race I turn the Factory OD switch off then I am able to use my OD toggle switch to get od to shift when I want it to.

So what are the drawbacks of running the throttle valve tied forward? I assume manual VB's run constant pressure?

Only things I have heard is that it just makes the shifts a little more agressive.

On occasion, people who tie it 100% forward have issues shifting. It drags out before shifting. Not sure why, and I have heard the problem is fixed my tying it 90-95% back instead of 100%.
I'm with you though in thinking it shouldn't matter if it's a constant pressure manual valve body.

So what modifications does the transgo kit make to delete the low/reverse apply in first gear? Are they able to do it without modification to the low/reverse servo, or are you still using it?

For $115, you can answer that for all of us ;-)

I still have my instructions at home i will look through them again and let you know. I dont recall touching any servos though. I know transgo made changes to the original TFOD-3 kit over time eliminating certain tasks during install. In fact the install video on their website has a warning telling you the install has changed since the video was shot.
It was no more involved than the tfod-2 kits I have installed in the past. There are a few more holes to drill and you have to do some filing on the throttle valve but other than that it was simple and straight forward. As I mentioned the only servo parts they included were optional and only needed if doing certain steps. I saved them to do later once the trans is out this winter for a full build. I am blanking right now on that portion though. It was surprising how large of a box they sent for so few parts.
Hardest part was getting the dam ratchet shifter cable on and routed correctly. I don't know about the other guys but I actually had to put the cable on the bottom of the shift arm because there was absolutely no way it would fit going into the top like the instructions had. The B&M instructions will make ya glad you don't own a GM product though I might add. Apparently improper cable adjustment on those makes the trans go kapooya

Not sure what the pro-loc can do overall but I got those two functional on my $60 of hardware. Just no user interface, speeds have to be coded.
