Question about boost increase with nitrous

If I'm spraying my nitrous directly into the intake...well after the turbo and intercooler...why do I see suck a dramatic increase on the boost gauge ?
My gauge port is about 6" downstream from the nitrous jet...is it just the pressure from the nitrous in the intake ?
Does the extra "air" in there cause more restriction causing the turbo to overboost ?

What causes this to happen ?

More gasses coming out of the exhaust valves from better combustion spools the turbine faster.
