Talking Engine Masters Challenge-DIESEL

Who here follows the Popular Hot Rodding Engine Masters Challenge?

I do and try to follow along with the challenges as much as possible.

I would love to see a Diesel Engine Only Challenge, or better yet take part in one. Who else would be interested in something like that ?

Diesel Only Engine Masters Challenge.....

Got a nice ring to it.

How do they do it Jeff? Everybody start with the same block and then after the build, they dyno the engine?

That could be cool too. I like the idea of a fixed budget build

Could be any single turbo, any cam, stock block, no juice, no water, limited to 4500 rpm's, ect.

Right, there all all kinds of rules for it..They set a max. cubic inch limit, but you can use whatever bore/stroke combination to get there. Then there are other rules about oil sumps and such. Then the east coast guys dyno at one place, the west coast another...Then they take the top 3 or so from both locations to one place where they dyno again to crown the winner..
I'm not sure how well this would work with diesels, but I bet it could be done..

i think it would be cool as hell to have them do a diesel challenge. but i don't think i could build one money wise. i have plenty of blocks/heads and what not but all stock stuff. to win it would require some high dollar fuel set up, and i think they should allow and combo of turbos, my twin set up is much cheaper than most singles for our truck.

But I think there's $168,000.00 on the line for the newest challenge....

that kinda money would bring the diesel guru's out of the woodwork....

Oh and they teardown and examine EVERY ENGINE entered....And publish what they find...

the main problem i see is that diesel fuel does not run into detonation problems as does a gas motor. so we have a much more flexible fuel to make big hp. i have a hx55 and a ht4c that i am going to put on my little truck when i get the other head on it. it should be a real high hp combo. but worthless for towing anything.i just need a nice 13mm 215 cammed pump that can spin to 5500 or so and i am ready. ya think i can get shane or brady to hook me up?

This subject has tons of possibilities..... And the results should bring even greater attention to the potentials of Diesel Performance..... We might be on to something here.....
