Gathering up some parts, need some help!

Got lots done the past couple times working in the shop. All the wiring harnesses are in, oh fender is on and all pieces that attach to it. Got the Carl’s apps rig on, never would I have thought that the throttle cable / tv cable bell crank would be made of steel that hard. After trying ever kind of bit I had including my carbide bits, I ended up welding the one lever right to the bell crank. Lots left to do, seems like every time I get one thing done I think of 5 more things to do! IMG_0222.JPGIMG_0223.JPG

Also, I was able to prime my Waterman system today. Popped the pump off, chucked up my battery drill, bam. Picked up fuel almost immediately!

The best way to get a hole in the apps arm is to use a carbide and "scratch" it. Then a brand new sharp drill.

Had to make some changes to the Waterman setup off the pump due to the electric fans sitting much further back then I thought they would have. Also had to do a banjo bolt inlet to accommodate for the throttle and cruise cable on the crazy Carl’s apps adapter rig.

Fans are wired up, stand-alone trans controller is halfway wired so far. Need to find a place to mount the ECM, but I’m really getting tight on room for sure. The nic nac stuff is wearing me down, but little by little it’s almost there.

Just about ready to build the twin piping! Built the primary mount last night and finished the transmission wiring. A couple other small items including mounting the ecm, installing gauges, throwing some lines on the tappet cover for a breather, and that’s about all. Lowering blocks for the rear are on the way, as are the new wheels. Ordered some turbo blankets today and the tires just got here. Will post up some pics this weekend, as my phone was dead in the shop last night. IMG_0246.JPGIMG_0247.JPG

Minor progress today. Got the turbos mounted solid and and down pipe wedged in haha. All ready for my friend to come weld up the compound setup (I can’t tig for ****). Also started making the mount for the ecm.... But fresh snow means the mountain is calling my name! IMG_0251.JPGIMG_0253.JPG

Ecm’s Mounted (will put up pics when the paints dry and installed). Was quite an ordeal figuring out how to get it in there with out blocking the side draft. Also got the tappet breathers in and made a little bracket that ties into the bell housing bolts. Got the leveling kit out (now I need new front shocks ?). AFC live is also in! Gonna tackle the exhaust, gauges and shut off solenoid tomorrow night! IMG_0262.JPG

Starting to see the end now. Just gotta round up some exhaust brackets and that’s done. Finished up the shutoff solenoid wiring tonight, got the dual steering stabilizer and new front shocks in. Got the rear ubolts apart to put the new blocks in when they arrive. Engine is ready for coolant, and trans is also ready for fill. Still trying to decide what fluid to run. Leaning towards half 303 and half type fa. To say I’m excited is an understatement, put tons of hours in, just hoping she fires right off and drives nicely the first time out. Time to start reading about ppump tuning!

Hopefully the final to do list I’ll need to do! Gauges are in and wired, just need to add power and ground. Trans is filled, coolant filled, oil filled. Did the afc max travel kit from PDD. My friend started on the compound piping, so after he finishes the manifold I gotta send that to be coated. Blocks for the rear, wheels and tires, correct nss will be here tomorrow! I’ll post some pics tomorrow then.

I filled my tcase last night, and used the same mix I did as the trans - Half Type FA and half 303 - I'm assuming thats gonna be ok to use. Anyone do the same?

Alright, brakes are bled and the new wheels are on. Really like them a lot, the 20’s are much nicer for sure. I’m now beating my head against the wall trying to get the pump shutoff solenoid working properly. I have it wired as such: Ground to engine, pull to motor side of starter, and hold to a key on pin in the relay box. When bolted on, the pull never worked once. Pulled the solenoid off and was able to get it to work about 6 times before the it became quite hot and then basically quivered when powering the pull side. I then thought that maybe, and excuse my ignorance as I don’t know exactly the inner composition of the pull coil, and hold coil, I thought maybe the pull was grounding itself by back feeding out the hold power in. So I disconnected the hold power altogether, leaving only the pull, and ground. Again, intermittent operation. Got to work approximately 4 times in a row, so I reinstalled with only pull and ground, and yet again no operation. I’m currently back home drinking a beer before I smash the solenoid. Any help? Could the new solenoid be bad? Thank you for any help.

So after some reading, I may have gotten the solenoid hot, from continuous testing of the pull in coil. It seems I should run a fuse between the solenoid and the starter relay, run the hold to a constant power and that should be all. Hoping I didn't fry my solenoid, but I could get it to work after cooling down a bit, so hoping thats all it needs is to cool down.
