s363 vs towing twins
Finally got a few bugs worked out of the 05 dually. I put in a tune from GL Tuning Solutions, but still have a lag until turbo spools up, then takes off hard at 2500 rpms. Also, exhaust temps getting higher than I would like. Turbo is a cast 362/68/.90 T3 that came with my Stainless Diesel 2G manifold kit. The exhaust side has a wastegated 14cm housing. I spoke with my turbo guy and he mentioned not liking turbine wheels larger than 65mm for towing. I’m going to check my exhaust housing to make sure something isn’t faulty with the waste gate. Otherwise, I’m considering going to a 351sw/472 twin setup. Any thoughts?

Imo 351/472 is a setup that has been proven time and time again to be a reliable, fast spooling setup. A 67mm turbine in the he351 and opening up the waste gate would help even more. The setup would definentley not dissapoint. It is my go to for towing compounds.

I'd say you have other problems if you're not lighting a 62mm until 2500rpm with a common rail. I mean my vp truck had a 64mm singing pretty good at 2000rpm, and common rails have a reputation for spooling turbos very well. Have you checked for leaks, boost/drive?

I have a 63/68 on my old dinosaur 12v, I’d drag anything across the country with it. It comes on around 1500 rpms with a trailer. Has 10 psi at 1550 and full tilt around 1800.

This morning, I hauled a John Deere 1025R with a 60” mower deck. The trailer is a single axle Aluma trailer. Total weight of tractor and trailer was around 2600 lbs. I was in overdrive and when I kicked tranny out of overdrive, lost would claim rapidly to 28#. This turbo is building boost below 2500 rpm, but engine rpms start climbing quicker, once I hit 2500 rpms. I do notice I am carrying 4 to 5 # more boost at cruising speed wit the trailer, compared to without. I plan on pulling turbo to check exhaust wheel and waste gate. If I don’t see anything wrong, I will remove exhaust temp probe and check drive pressure .

As mentioned above I think you are having other issues if that turbo isn't coming on until 2500 rpms especially since you are prolly not at any elevation being in Iowa

You’re running more boost with a trailer than without!?! SHOCKER!
Title says 63, first post says 62. First you say you have a .90 housing then you say it’s a 14cm gated
Let’s start by figuring out what you actually have...

I'm not going to get so PMS over it, but I was wondering the same thing myself.

I had a typo in my description. The turbo is a 363/68/.80 T3 with waste gate.

What would a 351(67mm turbine) over gta4202 (76 comp, 87 turbine 1.15 ar) max out at?
Would 700 be achievable?
OP: Check for boost and drive leaks as stated first before throwing parts and money at it.
