I have ac4500 that cranks but does not start. it will start on ether and run primed system and holds 10 psi actual pressure on scan tool is in spec when cranking 2 open glow plugs other 6 25 ohms new glow plug controller.warmed up engine still wont start cant be glow plugs.
 
Cranking speed is real critical
Iv seen some that are a little slower and only start in either
The medium duty trucks have a braided negative cable that deteriorates and can cause slow speeds. I’ve changed quite a few of those cables and takes care of problem
 
stupid thing to check but unplug your pcm connectors, clean and reseat at the engine end. i have seen vibration and dust cause them to have contact issues.
