No, friends of mine. They're thinking of doing a rebuild on one to get the power up, and their guy is telling them to buy a new crankshaft, among lots of other expensive parts. $500 each for pencil injectors sounds like they're pricing all CAT genset parts or something?
I'd have to get the pump housing number.

That's insane for injectors. The b crank and rods will take power as long as someone is driving it that knows what they're doing. The old timer trick was to spin new bearings in every 250k or so, a lot of guys say it isn't necessary but it's pretty cheap insurance.

More or less fuel is no problem. I just want it to breath. I know the 171702 is popular, didn't know if there were better options, that's all. The hx60 seems to run up real good on the bottom and mid, I think its choking on the top some though

If the cam isn't bad leave it, it already has the cam in it used in the 587hp generator engines.
Nozzles should not be over $180 a piece.
I would suggest a 10r1439 cylinder pack and nozzle 130-5187/0R8789 which matches that piston.

Well picked up another truck today........94 w9L with another series 60. Too quiet though.... think it needs some straights

Yessir my second one. The guy I bought it from up here had it plated through an Illinois company it looks like. The original ddec2 is relaxed with a ddec 3 470hp

Here is the odd thing about the bearings, I dont believe the size of the bearing was the issue, the narrow bearing rod journal is actually a larger diameter than the wide bearing journal.
The Vee engines use the same size bearings, this includes the modern C27/C32, the C32 tops out at 1900hp in marine form, this would be equivalent to a 950hp B model.

My other w9 has 6" straights that I made from sch 40 stainless pipe. Think it's .280 wall. Has a nice deep tone. Only real loud if you get on the jakes at higher rpm. But still a nice deep sound

I'll try get em side by side in the next week or so for a photo lol I'm 6-1 and they aren't the best for legroom for driver but I love the style and look of everything. The one I just got needs a good cleaning the grey interior is stained yellow. Not sure how I'm gonna get it clean. Guy musta smoked. And it stinks a little lol

We run two at right around 900 hp at the flywheel and haven't had an issue yet...
I argue this with my dad all the time. Making the next step he thinks we need to go to a wider journal engine.

Anyone ever prices insurance on a semi for "rv/ toter" use? Looking at a 89 fld with a b model in it

Mine is registered and insured Historical in NYS. My insurance is like $325 a year.

Holy chit. I guess weight isn't a priority of yours? I've seen guys spend thousands to save a 50 pounds here and there. I bet it does sound great, though.

I've saved all my weight on the engine already lol they sound heavy. The pipes are about 8' long plus elbows because the kenworth comes out under the cab. It puts them at 13'6" just sneaks in my 14' high door. I can lift the pipes up and they prob weigh I'm gonna say 100-120 lbs per side. Not much heavier than stock I would guess .
Another driver here has c15 with 7" chrome thin walled truck store pipes prob cost him $3000 an my series 60 sounds way deeper an way nicer. Stainless pipes and elbows cost me $600. I welded them together and then polished them Shiny. Never polished before so I could have done better. It's tough to get stainless like glass from the finish it had. Started at 80 grit lol
