47re trans questions and thank to Big Blue24

First of all I want to thank Big Blue 24 for his thread "47re clutch packs upgrades" I followed his and others suggestions and write-up to build my tranny.

I did everything in that thread except for the overdrive dr clutches which I added more to it just had to use double sided ones. Went with a Goerend triple disk converter.

On to my question. Prior to the rebuild I was experiencing delayed 1-2 shift to the point I had to let off to get it to shift. Since the rebuild it still shifts higher than I would like at part throttle. 2300rpms or so.

I've played with the TV cable. First setting it to spec (Delayed shifts). I've since been sneaking it in to adjust the shift point lower/softer. I like the firm shifts with it set to spec but the 1-2 strings out too much at part throttle.

Could I have something wrong still that is causing the strung out 1-2 shift. I.E. pressure switch or apps. I replaced the speed sensor prior to the rebuild and isolated the apps ground.

Did you replace your governor solenoid? Servo? Whatever they want to call it.

I'm no trans expert, but I had something very similar to this prior to replacing the gov solenoid and transducer.

It started how you're describing and eventually got to the point where it didn't want to shift gears unless I went to neutral and back to drive. Lavon Miller suggested and sold me the Borg Warner gov solenoid and transducer and it solved the problem completely.

Yep. DNJ GM style one went back in. New conv. and od solenoids and all servos upgraded.

That's why I'm thinking it's the pressure sensor. From what I understand it needs that reading to ramp up governor pressures.

The only thing I didn't replace too. Cleaned it but didn't replace

why would you deviate from what will did, or change what most ppl did, maybe there's where the prob lies ?,,

Only thing I changed was the single sided clutches that aren't available anymore. I used double sided and added appropriately.

That's in the overdrive section too. Wouldn't have anything to do with 1-2 shifts.

No codes. New speed sensor back before the rebuild. VB is rebuilt using transgo TFOD-HD2.

I was careful not to drill passages bigger that would affect shift points. I did drill the boost valve cover to .090

Did you turn up the line pressure at all when you did the shift kit? A dirty vb, low line pressure and miss adjusted tv cable, will all give you the symptoms you're having.

I would put a gauge on the governor pressure test port and see if governor pressure is rising correctly. That will eliminate several potential areas, such as electronics, solenoids, etc.

Yep checked pressures already. I found the problem today.

The TV cable had a frayed spot on the inside of the throttle cover. It would not allow the cable to return all the way in. I trimmed it off and all is normal again. Ill order a new one and replace it.
