Newbie question: Can someone explain the difference between a regular vavlebody and a full manual vavlebody?

Dave, A manual vb does not rely on governors/computers to control shift points. You control them at all times by shifting. Its mostly used on race car/truck stuff because the shifting can be harsh due to throttle pressure being high.

I like the manual(5spd) valvebody in my truck too. Haha.
Why not convert to a manual tranny?

Never! You just gosta get good at it . I converted my tranny with the later style lid and the throws are alot shorter.
