Wondering the same thing. I just looked at two new Longhorns last week along with a king ranch. I Cant make up my mind worth a ****. I know both have the cp4, but at least with the cummins i can throw a cp3 on when out of warranty

I've seen test trucks with CP3's on them, something is in the works.

I'm going to assume that you don't work for Cummins, so unless you don't value your buddies job I'd keep my mouth shut

, yes. The cash cow for the aftermarket won't be theirs to slaughter.

I am positive. See above. Also, Bosch is an a$$hole supplier. They tell their customers what they need, no conversation. What's crazy is that Bosch has denied that a CP3 will push 30ksi rail, which all of us in the aftermarket and tuning know it will do...

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. The CP4 failures and the failures due to the use of 15w40 are too well known. He's not dropping names, he and whomever he knows will be ok. Now if they shoot a youtube video... they won't be.

No buddies at Cummins. If you live around Metro Detroit and keep an ear to the ground you can find out what’s in the works, test vehicles are all over.

All 5th gens use the CP4 iirc. Also, in addition to the Allison rumors, I've been hearing rumors of HD Rams getting a ZF 8-speed PowerLine transmission for months. https://moparinsiders.com/zfs-new-po...s-diesel-rams/

Either way I hope the new transmission Ram chooses is tuneable, unlike the Aisin AS69RC.

Yes, owners are pouring in the wrong blend and engine failures are happening. FCA is making the owners eat it as well...

The 6.4 gas trucks now have the zed-eff 8 speed. If that's any kind of indicator... Any news trans will replace the 68RFE. The Aisin will be around for quite some time.

What type of failures?
One of the manufacturers I sell stated outright that their additive manufacturer could not fill orders, to run the conventional 15W40.
I don't think I've seen anything saying it can't be run, just lowered economy and shorter change intervals.

Do you ever see the Aisin being tuneable or is that a lost cause people should just give up on?

Dmax trucks have been running CP4s for 10 years. Yes, when they fail they usually take out the whole fuel system. But there are CP3 kits available for retrofit if need be. Im sure someone in the aftermarket will make a kit for Cummins too.

Gary, just enjoy your new truck.

Burnt crank bearings and lifter rollers/ cam lobe surfaces are what I am aware of. The tolerances for the main bearings were decreased is my understanding.

IDK honestly. I don't know anything about the Aisin controllers. My assumption is that the Aisin controller has already been interrogated by an AlienTech or DimSport. Unless it can't be... If it has been, the binary was probably not able to be interpreted/ reverse engineered. Keep in mind, this is the hard way of doing it. Most "tuners" are lazy and want a binary, elf, ram map, s19 and/ or a2l file from the inside to make their job easier. There probably aren't any engineers at Aisin that are interested in performance or their job is worth more to them than giving the files up.

Already exist, I think S&S offers it.
