Fun pulling tractor build
Pulled a 12v from a 97 ram 2500. Unfortunately found out the pump is no good. The motor will be going into a massey harris 55 tractor for using at our antique tractor pulls. Nothing too crazy. Needing some parts and constantly searching. Might be a slow build. Haven't done much for fab work and building. Here's the start. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1428266804.557046.jpg
Just a shot of motor over the tractor.
Going to need to figure out how to make a clutch setup with a output shaft.
I have been given a crowerglide triple disc clutch that bolts to a big block hemi crank so the pattern doesn't match. Was contemplating machining a stock cummins flywheel and swapping it out for the back of the crowerglide aluminum flywheel. Will get some pics of clutch up right away.

Got a long way to go! We put an 05 common rail into a Cockshutt 570...man what a puller that is!

Sounds like a cool build.....but it's that 190 that gets my oil flowing. I love anything Alice chalmers. I'm looking for a wd45 to restore and use for pulling.

Fun pulling tractor build
Ya should be pretty good when finished. My dad is working on a massey 55 with a 471. It's just about done.
lol there's a nice wd45 that pulls in our antique stock but don't pull worth a crap. My massey 30 is usually top of that class fighting it out with a oliver super 66 row crop.

Interested in ideas on clutching. Second guessing using the crowerglide. What clutch reccomendations are there? Would a stock clutch hold? There's a massive amount of reduction in the tractor rear but still lots of torque.

It will take at least a 2 disc to hold if you go much over stock.

Do I need a new flywheel or can I use a stock one without modification? Also I have a 1.375 shaft I would like to use rather purchase another.

One more point not sure on clutch size in the old tractor but with a stock clutch that's 60 years old it will lift the front end in the air at slow speed. I know it's not anywhere the hp but that's a lot of pressure on the clutch I would think.

I dont know how many gears you'r tractor has , but the Cummins with a little tweaking , you will be able to pull in 5 th gear if it is a 6 speed , or in 6 th or 7 th gear if it is an 8 speed.
If it is a light class, you will be trying road gear and a single disc won't take it

I'm jealous! We have a couple 44s that I've always wanted to do an engine swap in.

The 55 has 4 gears. Weight of my tractor will be in the 7000 range.
I've got a 44 special an that was gonna be my mod build. I bought a 79' gmc 1 ton Dually with a 350 an sm465. Was gonna drop that motor trans straight into my 44 special until my dad decided to drop a 471 into a massey 55. I must not loose to the old man. Lol the 44 swap will get done one day. You can use the yolk right off the muncie an get the cross bearing and other half yolk that slips right onto the massey trans shaft. Super easy.

I might pickup a nv4500 bell an get a machine shop to make a plate for the back to hold a bearing and candlestick and input shaft. Then would need a clutch setup to fit my 1 3/8 shaft.
I'm not sure the crowerglide will work. I want to be able to slip a bit and lite the turbo so she don't fall on its face.
