Tranny went out in my truck. 95 chevy 2500 4x4 diesel. Was wondering what years the 4l80e would swap to. I read some where the earlier ones had a different vavle body and force motor. And the new ones ran off the computer. Can anybody clear this up. Thanks

95-96 directly swap with each other. You can swap in a 97+, but will need to do some work to make the trans cooler lines hook up. 94 does not have the bosses to attach the neutral safety switch, and 91-93 used a slightly different valve body with a TCC solenoid frequency.
