How do you prime the pump? Although I agree that gear driven is more reliable I have never seen a belt slip off or break on an oil pump.

If you gear drive it and something locks up you’re going to destroy a lot of parts. Thats why I’ve always belt driven cp3s....etc off the crank. Plus you lose the ability to prime the pump which is important on a dry sump system.

Now, I I know I'm not going to be the only one to ask... But what's up with the offset mains radius ?

It's just a cut a way view. The right half is lower compared to the left. The left being the full part view.

We have equipment at work that runs belt drive pumps, there’s a “switch” the belt tensioner allpies pressure to, if the belt brakes, the tensioner releases the switch which is wired into the fuel shutoff.

Also, you can prime a cummins or any motor with a priming accumulator

Do you have power/torque level goal in mind? And is this going to be a one of a kind deal or are you thinking production with multiple options?

Where will the motor mounts bolt, the bedplate? or are you planning on just using a mid plate and front plate?

On the subject of dreaming big, seen this picture the other day, made me wonder just how rediculous a W18 Cummins would be!Click the image to open in full size.

Four valves per cylinder operated in a pentroof combustion chamber. All together, the engine’s 96 valves took about a week of labor to adjust.
I hope I can get mine adjusted a little quicker. lol

I feel a little admiration that my name might come to mind when something like this pops up. Derivatives of this engine went on to win several races on land/ air/ and sea. ...so, there.

A fella does have to wonder though, on a serious note, at what point is it best to just add cylinders instead of having a large bore??
