Triples & Header Build on Big Angry

what ever ended up happening to the big gnarly header he built?

He decided it was going to require too much time to finish due to his school and little off time. Seems to me it took about as long to finish the "temp" setup. He said he still has plans to finish the header but wanted to get it running.

He got it running

It's just cobbed together with some crap I had laying around, but it's drivable....

Wheeeew.....definitely need to turn the fuel down during spool up. I had the tune setup for the nitrous and single so I had to over fuel it quite a bit under low boost so there was fuel for the nitrous to work with. Well, as soon as the secondary started to make boost it was DUMPING fuel and snuffed the charger out.

I'll mess with that tomorrow when I can actually see.

Holy crap! This stupid thing comes on like freight train. 90 mph and it just blows the tires off on demand.

We may need a moment of silence for my tires, 'cuz I friggin' killed those things today. lol

I think I need to send a bill to the county for all the fresh blacktop I redid today. This thing is just stupid....

Over the span of 4.6 seconds I had to pedal it 3 times between 60 and 114 mph. This thing never hit this hard even with the big kit spraying..

Dayum! Made a test pass today. DAYUM!

Left WAY too soft but it chased down a car that normally goes 6.20's and only had 25 lbs on tbe gate.

60' was horrrendous, only left at 1900 RPM's and he got out on me pretty good but he was getting reeled in quick.

As soon as it lit the damn thing didn't stop skating until I let out at the 1/8th.

I wasn't even gonna make that pass because the exhaust still dumps down and out. My buddy is the track manager and he's the one who want to see a pass. I told it would make a mess at the line but he was like screw it, we'll clean the box......okaaaaay.

I had no idea what it was gonna do and left WAY under boost but it came like I was spraying the big kit and just kept coming. The guy in the other lane got out on me a good 3-4 cars but I was on his rear bumper going through the traps.

Stupid thing was skating all over the place the whole way down the track.

Man, I'm just trying to drive the thing. I barely have time to play with it let alone make videos. It's one thing if I go with a few people, but it's not the easiest thing to do when you're by yourself AND trying to work on a new setup.

I'm not in a big hurry to pull a Baca with a 1500+ hp truck and a video camera in my hand....

^^^^^^ LOL

little more

A pair of FMW 467's and an FMW 472 as the secondary. 250% over on the injectrors.

Yeah, they sing pretty good. You can definitely tell there are multiple turbos.

It may be that I haven't really driven it in quite a while, but this sucker is a handful under power. It just does not stop pulling. From the time it comes on boost until you lift it has you planted.

The nitrous hit good, but it didn't have the top end these do. These things are REALLY not disappointing me.

Believe me, there are a hundred different ideas running through my head for things to do with it. It really needs bigger tires. These drag radials just arent gonna cut it anymore. I need to swap to 2nd gen brakes so I can put a 16" wheel and true slicks all around. But,that kinda defeats the point of driving it to the track and talking smack to the "street car" guys that can't make it around the block though.

What I really want to do though doesn't involve the truck at all. It's just too heavy at this point. What I really want to do is pull the drivetrain and put it in something light....i.e. a promod chassis.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to dedicate to a project like that and, in a very rare showing of collaboration, my common sense and wallet are on the same sheet of music.

Rich was here!......ooooops...

This is how you know you're making some big kid boost.....

Split one of the welds on my intercooler. lol

And THIS is how you really do it....lol

..........
..........

Not sure....just noticed it. That explains why it was slow to spool at the track.....but still chased down a 6.20 car. Lol
Not sure. I'll cut the end tank off and reweld everything.

This intercooler has been on here since the first set of compounds the truck had.

Only good thing is this gives me an excuse to move the boost pressure and nitrous ports to where I want them while the intercooler is out. Needed to weld in a bung for the interstage and pre-intercooler boost as well as post-intercooler anways. Plus I need to weld a new bung for the big kit into the intercooler end tank.

Not sure.....boost gauge stops at 100 psi.....should be right around 110 if my numbers are right. Need to use a gauge for my air conpressor....lol

That's the same ATS intercooler I've had in it for years.

Got a better look at it now that it's light out. The weld didn't have very good penetration, it's mostly just sitting on top of the aluminum. That's why it let go. You can see how much it bulged out....

Right now, that's the plan. I'm gonna cut the whole end tank off, drill a few 3/8" holes through the thickness and weld round bar in to give it support over that big unsupported area.

What I'll probably do is weld some aluminum washers onto the rod and weld the outside of those to the outside of the tank so it spreads the load out a bit. That way it's sandwiched vs just butt welded at the ends.

I'm still debating on just using the cores and making new end tanks, but like everything I don't really have the time to go that far with it. I'm just gonna slap a little bit of East Alabama Love on 'er and whoop it like a cheap hooker.

Got 'er a little closer to really being ready to go.

Took almost all afternoon to do the fitment at the transition point due to it being a compound angle AND transitioning from 4" to 5". That was one of the worst pipe matings I think I've had to do.

But, still need to finish it up tomorrow. I need to shorten the pipe coming off the upper primary about an inch to get a good mate at the transition. I'll weld in a v-band so it's not one piece and then it's just running the rest of the 5" back to the stack.

Had to MIG this part together....I just didn't have the fitment tight enough to TIG. It'll work..it's just exhaust.

And this is where I'll need to shorten the pipe up top to bring it back slightly so the elbow will line up with the main down pipe. Once I have it lined up I'll v-band it so it's not one big hard to manage pipe. I really should put a 4" flex couple in there, but.....screw it, let 'er roll.

They're Afco double adjustables.

They're setup to be used as coil overs but Afco doesn't make springs heavy enough for these trucks.

Took a while to really dial them in. They have like 40 compression and 20 rebound settings.

How much do they run? I have seen a few people run there coil overs. They must be taking enough weight out to be usable. I need shocks is why I ask and want something adjustable ect

You don't want these for a daily. They're not really meant to driven thousands of miles on the street.

If you want adjustables for the street I've had always had really good luck with the Rancho RS-9000's. They have 9 adjustment points. I still run these on the back of the truck. I just needed more control up front so I went with the Afco's.

This truck sees very few street miles. I mean it's an '06 with just over 91k on the clock.

I am looking for my 10.50 truck. If it sees 1000 miles this year I would be surprised. I will keep both in mind I have the drive train where I want but not as sure as the chassis

Aaaand, she can breathe again. I decided not to go the stack route this time, I'm going back out to the stock tailpipe location and I'll stick a turnup on it for the track.

Downpipe is all flanged up...

And now I won't be cleaning the roof and back window everytime I start it.
