4l60e won't work in "d"

Family member of a friend, trying to help him out. 96 1500 2wd. "Said reverse and low 1 and 2 works but drive doesn't work when it's warmed up."

Any ideas what the problem is, and will a standard rebuild kit fix it?

Is he sure it isn't in "N" (nowhere)? That's what Kaylee calls it on the 4 wheeler.

So it turned out to be a combination of everything lol. Clutches were almost non existent. Sun gear was damaged, and some other hard parts were broken.
